I have wonderful news that I owe greatly to my “go get ‘em” skills honed through two sessions of Eagle U! I was chosen by the United Nations program HERO and CosmoGirl Magazine to be one of 20 students sent to South Africa this summer to work with children who are affected by HIV. This is one of my many humanitarian dreams, and I am ecstatic that I will be able to make it a reality. My Eagle U skills helped me nail the application process by giving me the power to earn recognition with college professors who in my time of need were more than willing to write dynamite letters of recommendation. Another letter of recommendation that helped me to gain a spot in this program came from a New York City program with NBC Universal that I participated in last summer. Thanks to my mentor building skills learned at Eagle U, I made an excellent mentor contact at NBC Universal who was able to write my final recommendation. I owe Eagle U many thanks for allowing me to see the many opportunities I can create for myself. Your program instilled in me a confidence and determination unparalleled to any other level I have yet to experience. It’s funny because so many people seemed impressed by my acceptance into this program, but after graduating Eagle U, I just can’t accept anything mediocre in my life. I have the ability to do whatever I want…it’s an empowering realization. Thank you for bestowing this beautiful gift upon me. Keep Eagle U going and you’re guaranteed to help make many people’s dreams come true!

Eagle “U” has been a blessing for me. I have been able to realize my goal of becoming a student veterinarian and am now part of the Ontario Veterinary College, class of 2009 in Guelph, Ontario. Competition for this enrollment is no secret, involving high marks, writing the MCAT test, acquiring extensive practical experience and most of all, facing the final interview. Eagle “U” helped me remain focused as I used the skills gained to stay on track, develop the confidence to take risks and create a network of support that was needed to fulfill my practical requirements. I am the youngest in the class which truly supports the "seven year head start". I have seen first-hand, people who were afraid to apply to the course due to the lack of courage to write the MCAT test, and the discouragement from the rejection faced when trying to build a repertoire of practical experience. I have also seen many students endure years of schooling or a job they do not enjoy and are finally starting Veterinary medicine after many wasted, unhappy years. My Eagle “U” notes remain with me on my desk as a source of inspiration—no small feat if you could see how small my living space has been while at university! I have encouraged my younger siblings to attend Eagle “U”, knowing that they too will benefit by learning that competitive edge, discover how to appreciate others, seek out mentors, and build a strong sense of self. Thanks Eagle “U” for giving me the confidence and direction to live my dream.

Dear Eagle U,

Hello. My name is Ashley Yarber and I had the great opportunity of meeting you this summer at Eagle U at Pepperdine University. Since leaving Malibu, I have had a lot going on, but now that things are slowing down, I wanted to take this chance to write you and let you know what a powerful influence your program has had on my life.

When I first returned from California, I was so pumped about applying everything I had learned to my everyday life. I was ready... but, unfortunately, I got caught up in the day to day routine of everyday life, and soon I was back to all of my old habits. I started staying out late again, and doing all of my homework in a rush, if I did it at all. I had pretty much forgotten everything I'd learned from my week at Pepperdine.

Then, about 3 weeks ago, I was moving out of my parents house, and I came across my folder from Eagle U. I opened it, planning to spend only a few minutes going through it. I spent the next 2 hours remembering and relearning the values taught to me by your staff. It didn't take long for me to decide that I wanted to sort out my priorities and get back on track.

Now, three weeks later, I'm living my life almost completely different. Simply rereading the material given me at Eagle U was enough to turn my life in another direction. Now I'm making much better grades, and my teachers as well as my friends have noticed a positive change in me.

I just wanted to take a moment to write, and let you know how much your dedication to this program means to me and so many others. You have a wonderful staff and I can't wait to return to Eagle U next summer, and to hopefully soon go as a team leader! Thank you again for everything!

I learned so much, made so many new friends and had such a great time.(not only as a student, but also a team leader) I also wanted to tell y'all that I applied for Editor in Chief of my college (Mary Baldwin College)newspaper and got it. Dear Eagle U,

In my life, I have had many happy times, but none as happy as when I attended Eagle U at Pepperdine University in Malibu. Having attended my first year of high school and having it be a complete flop, I decided to take control, so it just so happens that I was informed that there was a program going on that was supposed to boost your self-esteem, help you get good grades, and it even taught you to have proper table manners. I thought that it was way too good to be true, and when I found out it was in sunny Malibu, I was in heaven! I asked and soon I found myself out in California. I had a wonderful time, I met new people, and I learned how to be my best, to be a 10. I had so much fun that, at one point, I didn't even know what day it was! But, as all good things come to an end, so did Eagle U. I went home and was happy to see everyone, and then I had my chance, a chance of a lifetime. I got to help out at a fundraiser for John Nonna, who is running for state legislator. I got to meet many famous people and I had long, interesting conversations. I had no idea people could be so...so...AWESOME! I followed what they said at Eagle U and I was interestED instead of interestING. Also, I smiled so much, even if I didn't want to. I practiced the "fake it 'til you make it" rule a lot. I even talked to someone about being a vet, my dream job. It was really great, and it was even better knowing that I could apply things that I learned. Ever since I got back from Eagle U, my life has been so much better. Thank you, Eagle U!

Hey Eagles,

After I graduated from eagle u in 2001 I applied for Jutsin College and was not accepted because of my score on the S.A.T . So I studied more and took the test again and scored well and Jutsin college still did not accept me. I was very sad but I did not give up. Just yesterday I received a call from Penn State and they accepted me so I am off to college. Thanks to Doctor Goodjohns office that sponsored me to eagle u and to Eagle U and all of the mentors.

Thank you! I cannot describe the appreciation I feel for this organization and the people who work in it. For me, one of the best things I've gained from Eagle U is the unbreakable confidence I have built, and what is even better is my new ability to share that confidence with others. Eagle U opened my eyes to the true power of believing in one's self, and giving my close friends and family that message fills me with inspiration, and further motivates me to show them just how true that message is, and how real any dream can become.
